Middle and high school
The Engineer Encounters Bridge Design Contest is a national program for middle and high school program to introduce students to the fundamentals of civil engineering. The MESS Hall is pleased to host this program in conjunction with the local section of ASCE.
Participants compete to create a virtual bridge that is economical but still strong enough to carry a specified load. Students can work alone or with a partner.
On the day of the program, students check in at 8 am and will be assigned one of two 1 hour slots for modifying the contest bridge. The award ceremony will be at 11:30. The winner of the middle school and high school groups will have an opportunity to compete in the state tournament.
Interested students should download the free software used in the competition to experiment in advance.
Pre-registration is required.
